Physical therapy and sports medicine doctor, nutritionist and physiotherapist Maria Ratnikova spoke about continuing to exercise during a cold.

According to her, the stereotype about the need for complete rest when you have a cold is a myth. Bed rest is recommended only for moderate severity of symptoms. Otherwise, normal exercise is fine and the person can remain active, although staying home is recommended to prevent transmission of infection.

The expert notes that the “energy-saving mode” is recommended for about 5 days, and it is important to be more attentive to your condition. It is important to drink more water and take medications prescribed by your doctor. It is emphasized that staying active makes it easier to recover from illness.

Regarding training during a cold, regularly exercising is recommended to return to activity 2-3 days after the condition improves. Intensive training, visiting the swimming pool, sauna and hammam are not recommended. After recovery, light exercise for 1-2 weeks is recommended to restore the autonomic nervous system, World Class reports.

The main attention is also paid to the choice of place for training. Both outdoor and indoor training are possible. It is important to take into account your general condition, avoid extreme conditions, and reduce the intensity of outdoor training.
