Gastroenterologist “SM-Clinic” Ekaterina Melnikova analyzed popular methods among Russians fight hangoverand explained why they don’t work.

The expert is sure that you shouldn’t get hungover the next day after a heavy libation. The morning after drinking alcohol, a person releases a lot of acetaldehyde, which is characterized by nausea and headache. And with a new portion of alcohol, dopamine is released, which reacts with acetaldehyde. The result of this interaction is a new substance that contributes to the accelerated development of alcohol dependence.

At the same time, you can safely drink the brine after abusing alcohol, the main thing is that it should be the brine from pickled cucumbers, and not a marinade with vinegar, writes Gazeta.Ru.

If you feel nauseous from a hangover, you need to drink more clean water and try to induce vomiting. At the same time, antiemetic drugs cannot be taken, they can have a bad effect on the heart rhythm, the doctor reminded.

At the same time, you need to be careful with Paracetamol for headaches from a hangover, Melnikova believes.

“This is the most hepatotoxic drug. The daily dose of Paracetamol for adults should not exceed four grams, it is recommended to take no more than one gram (two tablets) at a time. But in combination with alcohol, even a third of the dose of the drug will be enough to cause liver failure,” she explained doctor.
