Travel to North Korea: the restoration of air services promises new opportunities for Russian tourists

In the near future it is planned to restore regular flights between Russia And DPRK, which will greatly simplify travel for Russians to North Korea. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador in Pyongyang, Alexander Matsegora.

“At the moment, some restrictions remain due to the pandemic, and regular flights have not yet resumed. However, I am confident that this issue will be resolved in the coming months, which will make travel to the DPRK much more accessible,” the diplomat said.

Matsegora also emphasized that the DPRK authorities have plans to develop tourism programs, and the country itself has many amazing places that will certainly be of interest to Russian tourists.

A representative of the tour operator Vostok Intour recalled that on February 9, the first group of almost 100 Russian tourists since the beginning of the pandemic, including young athletes from Primorye, went to a ski resort in North Korea.

In December 2023, a delegation from Primorye led by the governor Oleg Kozhemyako visited the DPRK. During this trip, representatives of the authorities of the Russian region held a number of meetings with the aim of developing humanitarian ties, especially in the fields of culture, tourism and sports. Oleg Kozhemyako also reported that North Korea proposed a number of ideas for cooperation with Russian tour operators.
