Astrology, despite its popularity, has been criticized by the Commission for Combating Pseudoscience at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientists have put forward four main scientific arguments against astrology.

1. Astrology does not meet scientific requirements, since its conclusions are subjective and cannot be scientifically verified. Unlike other sciences, astrology does not have a mechanism for the phenomena being studied.
2. Astrologers’ statements do not pass experimental checks. Conducted studies, including an experiment in India, have not shown the effectiveness of astrological predictions, reports Vokrug Sveta.
3. The entire effect of astrology comes down to the impact on the human psychology. It is not based on astrological effects, but on people’s faith in predictions, especially if those predictions seem personal.
4. In astrology no scientific arguments in my own defense. Attempts to argue for its scientific nature refer to various evidence, but researchers point out their inconsistency.

The commission recommends that astrologers reconsider their profession, educational organizations exclude astrology from programs, the media refuse to advertise it, publishing houses do not publish astrological literature, and entrepreneurs, officials and other persons do not follow the recommendations of astrologers.
