A Kenyan referee for the match between Wydad Casablanca and Botswana’s Goaning Galaxy – Day 24

The Referees Committee of the Confederation of African Football decided on the name of the Kenyan referee, Peter Waweru, to lead the match between Wydad Athletic Club and Botswana’s Gwaneng Galaxy, for the fifth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

The Kenyan referee, Peter Waweru, will assist in leading the aforementioned match between Wydad Athletic Club and Jwaneng Galaxy, both of his compatriots, Gilbert Cheruiyot, as first assistant, and Stephen Yembe, as second assistant, with their compatriot, Mimiza Deken, as fourth referee.

Wydad Athletic Club had stumbled in its first match, after losing with a clean goal to Botswana’s Gwaneng Galaxy, in the match that took place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, on the field of the Grand Stadium of Marrakesh, for the first round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Wydad Athletic Club needs to defeat Gwaninig Galaxy of Botswana to maintain its full chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals, after losing three matches and winning one during the group stage, knowing that it has only two rounds remaining at the end of the first round, one of which it will play in Morocco against Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast.

Wydad Athletic Club will face its Botswana counterpart, Gwaneng Galaxy, on Saturday, February 24, starting at three o’clock in the afternoon, on the grounds of Obed Itani Stadium, in Francistown, for the fifth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Wydad Sports Club currently occupies fourth “last” place with three points, in a second group led by ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast with ten points, Simba of Tanzania is in second place with five points, and Guaneng Galaxy of Botswana is in third place with four points.
