According to the press service of the regional headquarters of the FSB, in Kemerovo a man was detained who tried to travel to Ukraine to join the ranks of the Kyiv army and conduct military operations against the Russian army. The detainee established contact with the coordinator of a neighboring country through an Internet messenger and filled out an application form to join a foreign paramilitary force. This was reported by the press service of the regional headquarters of the FSB.

He also purchased the necessary equipment, medical supplies and communications equipment, plane and train tickets to travel to the territory of Ukraine. The man was detained while checking in for a flight by security forces.

“A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Part 1 of Article 30, Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “High Treason” and Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such organization,” the statement said.

The detainee was charged and arrested.
