It is reported that the dangerous predator was discovered in January 2023 in the vicinity of the urban village of Vyazemsky, Khabarovsk Territory. He attacked dogs and posed a danger to local residents. First, he was placed in a center for the rehabilitation of wild animals in the Khabarovsk Territory, where he stayed until June, after which he was transported to a similar institution in the village of Alekseevka, Primorsky Territory. Veterinarians discovered that he had an old fracture of the ulna of his wrist and the absence of one of the claw phalanges. The tiger could have been seriously injured due to being caught in a poacher’s snare.

“The Moscow Zoo has created excellent conditions for the rehabilitation of animals that in nature find themselves in a difficult life situation. And the zoo’s specialists – zoologists and veterinarians – have extensive experience working with injured animals, including tigers,” Fursin said.

Zoo workers will perform all necessary manipulations and, if necessary, perform surgery. Regular training will also be carried out with the tiger, which will help establish a trusting relationship between the animal and the people who care for it.
