A Belarusian potash fertilizer producer known as Belaruskali has filed a complaint in a Lithuanian court seeking damages of approximately €1 billion. This is reported by EADailyciting information from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic.

According to the data, the reason for the claim was the termination of the agreement between Belaruskali and Lithuanian Railways on the transit of fertilizers through Lithuania in February 2022.

“The arbitration process initiated by the company OJSC Belaruskali against the Republic of Lithuania began in early 2024, and the arbitral tribunal was formed. The process will continue in accordance with the arbitration rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) of 1976. It should be noted that that the arbitration process is confidential,” the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport said.
