Duda summoned military leaders due to violation of Polish airspace

An unidentified flying object was detected on the morning of December 29 in Polish airspace, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces announced on Twitter on Friday (now X, blocked in the Russian Federation).

“In the morning hours, an unidentified air object entered Polish airspace from the border with Ukraine, which was accompanied by radar equipment of the country’s air defense system from the moment it crossed the border until the signal disappeared,” the tweet reads.

President of the country Andrzej Duda discussed the incident with the Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysh by telephone. The Polish leader ordered an urgent meeting on this issue at the National Security Bureau with the head of the Ministry of Defense and senior military leaders.

On the night of December 29, Ukraine was subjected to unprecedented rocket fire. The country’s air defense servicemen “haven’t seen this for a long time,” admitted the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuri Ignat. In a similar situation, a Ukrainian S-300 flew into Poland in November and killed two local residents.
