MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. The Ukrainian corporation Energoatom has been transformed from a state-owned enterprise into a joint-stock company with 100% state participation. This was announced by a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk.

“The joint stock company National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom was formed, 100% of the shares of which belong to the state, by transforming the state enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom,” he wrote in the Telegram channel. According to Melnichuk, the charter, regulations on the company’s supervisory board and the principles of its formation have been approved. It is emphasized that the formed joint-stock company is the legal successor of all property and non-property rights and obligations of the state enterprise Energoatom.

In this regard, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal stated that “the corporatization of Energoatom according to the best international standards will strengthen the quality of management, transparency and accountability of the company,” and also opens up new opportunities for the development of Ukrainian nuclear energy and “partnerships with global companies.”

On July 12, the Group of Seven hosted during the summit NATO in Vilnius, a declaration on the general principles of long-term security guarantees for Kyiv, which indicated that Kyiv had assumed some of the obligations, including in terms of corporate governance reforms. The same demands regarding economic transformations were made by International Monetary Fund. As part of these obligations, the Ukrainian government has already carried out corporate reform of the Ukrainian GTS Operator company.
