Folk signs for December 30, 2023

On December 30, the Orthodox Church remembers the holy prophet Daniel, who was popularly nicknamed Danil the Winter-Pointer. It was believed that if there is a lot of frost on the trees on this day, then warming will come by Christmas. And here southwestern the wind foretells a snowy but warm winter.

Our ancestors also believed that whatever the weather was like on December 30, it would be like that in May. By the way, the snowstorm on St. Daniel’s Day promises a hot and fruitful summer.
