Vostrotin died today, February 13, in a country house. The colonel general did not live two days before the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. The cause of death was a serious illness with which he struggled for two years. For performing combat missions in Afghanistan in 1989, Valery Vostrotin received the title of Hero of the USSR.
