Morocco refuses to target Rafah, warning of catastrophic humanitarian consequences – Al-Youm 24

Yesterday, Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, received a phone call from the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, and they discussed and consulted about the latest developments in the region, in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to the Maghreb Arab Agency, the Minister renewed the firm position of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, on the necessity of an immediate, comprehensive and sustainable cessation of the Israeli war on Gaza, and enabling the Palestinian population in the Strip to obtain urgent relief aid, adequately, safely and without obstacles. And creating a political horizon for the Palestinian issue, enabling the implementation of the two-state solution.

The Minister explained that the Kingdom of Morocco is following with great concern the statements issued by some Israeli officials regarding plans to continue attacks on Gaza, with the intention to target and storm the city of Rafah, and the catastrophic humanitarian consequences that this may lead to.

The Minister affirmed the Kingdom of Morocco’s categorical rejection of the attempted forced displacement of Palestinians, and the necessity of providing them with protection in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.
