Muscovites were told about the weather on New Year’s Eve

“On New Year’s midnight there will be light snow, and the temperature in the central part of the capital will drop to minus 5 – minus 7 degrees,” Leus said.

According to him, by the morning of January 1 it will get colder to minus 10 – minus 12 degrees, and during the day on the first day of the new year, despite the sun breaking through the gaps in the clouds, it will not become warmer.

“The further course of events promises a gradual cessation of snow and an ultrapolar invasion – when cold air masses from the Kara Sea begin to flow into the center of European Russia, along with an anticyclone. In such a situation, on January 3 and 4, in conditions of relatively cloudy and dry weather, the cooling will reach its apogee, and at night the thermometers will storm the 25-degree mark,” the forecaster added.

The meteorologist added that the last time the New Year in Moscow was so cold was from 2015 to 2016, then at midnight the frosts hardened to minus 13, and by the morning of January 1 the temperatures dropped to minus 16.
