A survey among several thousand Russians showed that many of them plan to spend the New Year holidays in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg ranks third in popularity among Russian tourist destinations, second only to Sochi and ahead of many other cities.

The popularity of the city is due to its rich cultural program, as well as New Year’s fairs, where you can not only buy gifts, but also enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

In addition, the city attracts with its numerous museums, the total number of which is more than two hundred. At any time of the year you can find entertainment for all ages and interests. St. Petersburg is especially popular in winter, when numerous concerts, festivals and New Year trees take place here. The number of apartment rental offers increased by 34% in December, indicating growing interest in the city as a tourist destination, reports Petersburg2.

Particular attention is paid to New Year’s Eve, which can be celebrated on a large scale both on the streets of the city and in various establishments. The cultural program for the New Year holidays includes hundreds of concerts, festivals and events for children and adults. St. Petersburg also offers a variety of winter activities, including ice skating, husky sledding, and even reindeer rides.

Tourists are also drawn to the surrounding areas of St. Petersburg, including eco-trails, bayside resorts, and historic cities like Vyborg. The ability to quickly reach other cities in the region, such as Pskov, Veliky Novgorod and Tikhvin, makes St. Petersburg even more attractive for travelers.
