“Judging by the strength of the spectral feature bands, the abundance of water on asteroids corresponds to the amount of water on the sunny side of the Moon. On asteroids, water may be bound to minerals and also absorbed by silicates and trapped or dissolved in silicate glass,” said lead author Dr. Anicia Arredondo.
