On Tuesday, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Casablanca postponed the trial of the defendants in the Badr murder case until the 20th of this month, considering that the case is ready under any circumstances or reason.

The reason for delaying this session is due to the lawyer of the main accused in this case requesting a period of time to review the file.

The main defendant attended his second trial session with the rest of the defendants, and they are all being prosecuted on charges related to premeditated murder and forming a criminal gang, as well as the described theft, attempted premeditated murder and participation, the penalty for which reaches death.

The trial session was attended, as usual, by members of the victim’s family, and his defense demands the maximum penalties against the accused.

Badr was a doctoral student, and was killed by a car after being severely beaten in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. In Casablanca. This crime sparked widespread anger, especially after its heinousness was documented on surveillance cameras.

It later became clear that the main accused, whom social media users describe as “Old Al-Fashoush,” had previously caused the death of another young man in 2018, but he was not arrested, and a preliminary ruling was issued against him in 2019, requiring him to pay a fine only, without… Imprisonment penalty.

After appealing this ruling, he ruled in absentia against the person who caused the accident by upholding the initial ruling in its principle, adding the sentence to the accused to one year of effective imprisonment and amending it by raising the fine imposed for manslaughter to the amount of 30,000 dirhams, and completing it by suspending the driver’s license for a period of two years, starting from the date of The actual withdrawal of it, with the minimum burden for the convict who becomes forced.
