In Russia they really love the TV series “The Magnificent Century”. Beautiful actresses, romantic love and spectacular costumes – all this did not leave domestic viewers indifferent, but it is the last point that causes outrage in the homeland of the series.

Turkish viewers are outraged that the costumes of the heroines do not correspond to what they were in reality during the era of the events shown. The creators of “The Magnificent Century” decided to attract modern viewers with a “strawberry”. The series avoids overly racy scenes and instead decided to replace them with racy costumes.

Viewers are annoyed that concubines want to wear dresses with open shoulders and a deep neckline even in the presence of unfamiliar men, which in reality was unacceptable.

This isn’t the first time audiences have drawn attention to historical inconsistencies in movies. Viewers have noticed more than once that the heroines of films about the Middle Ages behave not like submissive girls of that era, but like modern emancipated women.
