As soon as coronavirus restrictions on foreign travel were lifted, Russian tourists went abroad again. However, many destinations had to be reconsidered due to difficulties associated with travel to Europe. Then the Russians decided to start exploring Africa.

According to travel service OneTwoTrip, the share of booked flights to Africa for the 2023-2024 New Year holidays amounted to four percent of the total number of foreign flights. And although the figure itself is small, what is important is that the range of destinations booked in this hot country is expanding. There, in addition to Egypt, Russian tourists are beginning to explore Namibia, Nigeria, and Zambia.

Also, compared to last year, the popularity of trips to Morocco has increased – trips there have become three times more frequent. In addition, demand for travel to Nigeria has doubled.

On average, analysts note, the demand for booking tourist destinations in Africa for the upcoming New Year holidays has increased by 90% compared to the same period last year.
