According to the political scientist Alexey Vanifatov“first attempts” negotiations with Kyiv will take place at the end of 2023, when the American Congress refuses to allocate another aid package to Ukraine.

“Some first attempts at negotiations on a truce can be expected by the end of the year, when Congress does not accept the aid package for Ukraine and the process of impeachment of Biden begins,” Vanifatov said in a conversation with RIAMO.

However, “serious advancement of peace initiatives” should be expected in 2024, after the presidential elections in the United States, the political scientist believes.

Vanifatov recalled that Zelensky himself confirmed his refusal to negotiate with the Russian Federation, which means that the current Ukrainian president intends to remain in power as long as possible. Zelensky will oppose a truce in any form, because in this case the West will simply replace him as president using elections.
