Trade between China and the Tver region exceeded $138 million in six months

The volume of trade turnover between Chinese People’s Republic And Tverskaya region in the first half of 2023 exceeded $138 million, which confirms China’s leadership in trade interaction between the region and non-CIS countries. This information was provided by the press service of the regional government, referring to the results of the meeting of the governor Igor Rudeni and First Secretary of the Provincial Communist Party Committee Liaoning Hao Peng in China.

“The volume of trade turnover between the Tver region and China over the past two years has increased by more than 2.3 times: from $100.3 million in 2020 to $232.9 million in 2022. In the first half of 2023, this figure has already exceeded $138 million. China currently ranks first in the overall foreign trade turnover of the Tver region with non-CIS countries,” the report notes.

The press service also provided data on the structure of trade between the regions: the Tver region exports leather products, poultry meat, fur products, timber, aluminum and its products to China, while it imports shoes, electrical machines, chemical products and other goods .

During the meeting on November 20, Governor Rudenya and Hao Peng discussed the prospects for further cooperation between the region and the PRC. Rudenya highlighted important areas of partnership, such as the construction sector, the development of educational programs, the introduction of new technologies and tourist exchange.

“Today we have long-term prospects for strengthening mutually beneficial relations in the economic, social sphere, culture, sports and education. We presented a package of proposals that will be discussed as part of our business mission,” Rudenya emphasized, also inviting Hao Peng to 950 anniversary of Toropets in 2024 and a visit to the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier.

Hao Peng, in turn, highlighted promising areas of cooperation, such as industry, exchange in science, education and culture.

“During our visit to Russia this year, we signed a number of agreements, including trade, economic and humanitarian ones. I am confident that your visit will contribute to the development of interregional cooperation and will bring concrete results,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quoted him as saying.

In the period from November 20 to 23, the Tver region is conducting a business mission to the PRC, within the framework of which a conference on friendly exchange and trade and economic cooperation with Liaoning Province is planned on November 21. The event will present the investment potential of the region, and it is also planned to visit enterprises and infrastructure facilities in the province.
