Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz believes that in order for the parties Ukrainian conflict sit down at the negotiating table, Russia is obliged to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine.

The German Chancellor made this statement during the federal congress of one of the largest German trade unions, Verdi.

“The condition is that the Russian president must agree to withdraw troops – this is a condition for negotiations,” Scholz said.

According to the politician, calling on Kiev to agree to negotiations with Russia is “cynical”, because on the territory of Ukraine “there are tanks of another country,” which means that, according to Scholz, it should defend itself and not negotiate.
